For Game Masters who like to play out cinematic RPG encounters more in the theatre of the mind, our hand-drawn, immersive scenes can level up your sessions and draw your players into those campaign-defining moments.
Our scenes are also perfect companion art pieces for some of the fantasy battlemaps from our Czepeku Maps Patreon. Check out the battlemap versions of our amazing scenes here. So, if you're wondering how to add scenes to Foundry VTT, you just need to follow our simple guide:
Step 1: Choose Your Scene
First, you'll need to find a scene that's perfect for your encounter. Czepeku has lots of fantasy scenes to choose from, including variations like time of day, weather, and magical effects. If you’re already a Czepeku Scenes patron, you’ll have access to the full archive of VTT-ready scenes for as little as $5 per month.
Step 2: Import Your Scene
- Open a game world on Foundry VTT, then navigate to the ‘Scenes’ tab found on the top-right of the screen.
- Choose ‘Create Scene’. Add a name and go to ‘Create New Scene’. This will open the 'Configure Scene' window.
- Navigate to the ‘Basics’ tab and select the ‘Background Image’ file-picker.
- Upload the Czepeku Scene you want from your computer into the ‘Image or Video Browser’ by hitting 'Choose file’.
- Once imported, just pick the scene from your Foundry VTT list and hit ‘Select File’.
Step 4: Set the Lighting
When your scene has been added to Foundry VTT, 'Token Vision' will be enabled by default in the 'Lighting' tab of your configuration settings. That means your players will only be able to see a black screen unless they have a Token on the scene with 'Vision Enabled' and a light source.
There are a couple of ways to enable vision for your players. In order not to restrict your players' vision in the scene, you can untick 'Token Vision' found in the 'Lighting' section of the scene configuration settings. The entire scene will then be visible to all players.
It's also possible to make the entire scene visible by selecting 'Global Illumination' in the 'Lighting' tab of your scene configuration settings. This way, you don't need to add any lighting to the scene.
How to Add an Animated Scene to Foundry VTT
If you're wondering how to import an animated scene to Foundry VTT, it's really easy! Just follow the same steps above but just select your animated file instead. It works the same way. Animated scenes bring a deeper level of immersion to your games. So get access to all of our animated scenes with Tier 2 on our Patreon.
